British professional road wins 2013
We keep track of British riders' professional road victories throughout the 2013 cycling season on this page.
We'll include individual road race and time trial wins from both men and women in international races with a UCI ranking.
Mark Cavendish opened the year with a win in his first race for Omega Pharma-QuickStep - the first stage of the Tour de San Luis in Argentina on January 22. The following day, Geraint Thomas (Sky) put in an attack at the end of stage two of the Tour Down Under in Australia to net the stage win and put himself in the race lead.
Cavendish scored his second win of the year in the third stage of the Tour of Qatar in February, followed swiftly by wins on stage four and five. Chris Froome (Sky) put in a strong performance in the Tour of Oman to win the key stage on Green Mountain and take the overall win.
Froome continued his winning run into March, taking a stage of Tirreno-Adriatcio (where he placed second overall) and then a stage win and overall victory in Criterium International. Kit Gilham (Metaltek-Knights of Old) won stage four of the Tour of Algeria mid-March. Cavendish scored his first win of March with stage two in the Three Days of De Panne.
The first half of April was a lean month for British riders, who collectively failed to make an impression in the spring classics. Ian Wilkinson took UK Youth's first UCI-ranked victory in the Rutland-Melton CiCLE Classic, before Froome won the Tour de Romandie overall, including a win in the opening prologue, at the end of the month.
In May, Cavendish took the first Grand Tour stage of the season, winning the Giro d'Italia opener in Naples on May 4. He followed this with wins on stages six, 12, 13 and 21 to take the points classification.

Alex Dowsett claimed the biggest victory of his career, winning the tough stage eight time trial. Lucy Garner took her first professional win, taking the opening stage of the Tour of Chongming Island. Emma Pooley (Bigla) won a stage of the Tour Languedoc Roussillon on her way to winning the race overall on May 22.
Froome continued his stellar season with a stage win and overall victory in the Criterium du Dauphine in June. British under-23 road race champ Mike Cuming took his biggest career win at the Tour of Korea - the first of many, we predict.
Cavendish took his 24th Tour de France stage win on July 3 in Marseille, followed by the 25th on July 12 after his Omega Pharma squad forced the peloton to break apart in strong crosswinds. Chris Froome won three stages of the Tour - eight, 15 and 17 - and the overall to become the second British rider to do so in as many years.
In August, Bradley Wiggins took his first win of the season, crushing the opposition in the Tour of Poland final time trial.
Into September, Mark Cavendish scored three stage wins at the Tour of Britain, with Bradley Wiggins winning the time trial stage and the general classification.
In 2012, British riders amassed a total of 68 pro road wins.

Nigel Wynn worked as associate editor on CyclingWeekly.com, he worked almost single-handedly on the Cycling Weekly website in its early days. His passion for cycling, his writing and his creativity, as well as his hard work and dedication, were the original driving force behind the website’s success. Without him, CyclingWeekly.com would certainly not exist on the size and scale that it enjoys today. Nigel sadly passed away, following a brave battle with a cancer-related illness, in 2018. He was a highly valued colleague, and more importantly, an exceptional person to work with - his presence is sorely missed.
