British team announced for UCI Road World Championships
Tour de France winner Chris Froome will lead a strong British men's team, which includes Sir Bradley Wiggins, at the UCI Road World Championships in Florence, Tuscany, Italy next week.
The squad, which was announced today, will include Tour riders Mark Cavendish and Geraint Thomas as well as Wiggins, who also will also compete in the time trial.
Wiggins is joined by Alex Dowsett for the time trial, whilst Lizzie Armitstead leads the women's road race team.
Emma Pooley, who had made the longlist for the women's road race and time trial, has declined her place in order to focus on her studies.
Cycling Weekly will be covering all the world championship action as it unfolds in Florence. Head to Road World Championships coverage index for previews, news and reports from all the action in Italy.
