Cavendish tests his speed at Top Gear Live
With his need for speed, perhaps it was only a matter of time before Mark Cavendish got invited by the Top Gear team to test his driving skills.
The world champion joined Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond for the opening day of their Top Gear Live Tour at Birmingham's NEC on Friday (November 11).
Cavendish took part in a version of their Star in a Reasonably Priced Car challenge around a track created for the event.
Despite riding the Specialized Venge in 2011, a bike designed in collaboration with McLaren, he completed his laps in a Kia Cee'd, which costs barely £3,000 more brand new than his usual two-wheeled machine of choice.
His partner Peta Todd has previously appeared on the BBC show, and set a time of 1-49.9 around the Dunsfold Park circuit where the TV programme is filmed.
