Chain Reaction Cycles sponsors Sean Kelly squad
Online retailer Chain Reaction Cycles will sponsor the Belgian-Irish An Post-Sean Kelly cycling team in 2013.
The An Post-Chain Reaction Cycles-Sean Kelly squad will ride Vitus bikes as part of the deal. CRC resurrected the Vitus brand three years ago and the squad will ride on the brand's range-topping Vitesse and Chrono time trial models.
Team manager Sean Kelly said: "The team at Chain Reaction Cycles have done a magnificent job of breathing life back into the historic Vitus brand, and this partnership is a natural progression as we aim to deliver An Post-Chain Reaction Cycles-Sean Kelly riders to the top of the podium - exactly where Vitus belongs."
CRC has been heavily involved in sponsoring a mountain bike team in recent years, but this is the first time that the retailer has supported a road squad.
Damien Duggan, CRC Marketing Manager added: "This is such an exciting time for Chain Reaction Cycles as we embark on our first journey into the world of professional road cycling. The launch of An Post-Chain Reaction Cycles-Sean Kelly feels like a natural fit, and we can't wait to see the team racing on our very own Vitus bikes."
The team's official launch will take place in February.

Nigel Wynn worked as associate editor on CyclingWeekly.com, he worked almost single-handedly on the Cycling Weekly website in its early days. His passion for cycling, his writing and his creativity, as well as his hard work and dedication, were the original driving force behind the website’s success. Without him, CyclingWeekly.com would certainly not exist on the size and scale that it enjoys today. Nigel sadly passed away, following a brave battle with a cancer-related illness, in 2018. He was a highly valued colleague, and more importantly, an exceptional person to work with - his presence is sorely missed.
