CAVENDISH WINS FINAL TOUR OF DENMARK SPRINT

Mark Cavendish won his seven race of the season and showed he can consistently compete against his rival sprinters by winning the final stage of the Tour of Denmark on Sunday.

After taking second on Saturday morning, Cavendish came up with a perfect sprint in Frederiksberg, beating Juan-José Haedo (CSC) and Graeme Brown (Rabobank).

Cavendish crashed twice during the first week of the Tour de France but has clearly recovered well and is set for an impressive second half of the season.

"After all my bad luck at the Tour I am absolutely delighted that it all clicked for me here. I kept on believing in myself. I came close to the win yesterday (Saturday) morning, but I kind of let Chicchi take me by surprise in the sprint," he said on the T-Mobile team website.

Cavendish got an excellent lead out from his T-Mobile team yet again and his win meant he also snatched final victory in the points competition.

Ian Stannard made an impressive debut in his spell as a stagiaire with T-Mobile, finishing 63rd overall at 8-02. Norwegian Kurt-Asle Arvesen (CSC) used his Tour de France form to take the overall win after thanks to a solid time trial on Saturday. He finished 14 seconds ahead of Italy?s Enrico Gasparotto (Liquigas) and so became the first rider to ever win the Tour of Denmark twice.
