COURSE & EVENT RECORD FOR RAMBO
IT was third time lucky for Julian Ramsbottom when he won today?s Team Swift-Allsports International time trial in East Yorkshire in a course and event record time.
The Scunthorpe Polytechnic CC rider, who will be among the favourites for the classic North Road CC hardriders? 25-mile event in Hertfordshire next Sunday, covered a hilly 15-mile course through the Yorkshire Wolds in 35-23 to take 33 seconds off Stuart Shawcross?s 2002 record for the Walkington-based, two-lap course.
Blair Buss, who led the promoting club to team victory in an event record time, was also inside Shawcross?s figure with his 35-28.
Two years ago the Team Swift event, opening northern time trial of the season, was cancelled because of snow, and last year Ramsbottom was sidelined with the flu which also kept him out of the North Road event, which he last won in 2002.
