CUMMINGS OUT WITH BROKEN ELBOW

Britain's Stephen Cummings faces time off his bike after breaking his elbow. The break occured with he fell during the Eindhoven team time trial on June 24

On good form after finishing the Tour of Italy, Cummings was one of only five out of nine Discovery riders that made it to the final stages of the ProTour time trial, but came off when Lithuanian Tomas Vaitkus fell off in front of him.

?It was on the last corner, Vaitkus came off and I hit him from behind,? Cummings said. ?It was a normal 90 degree corner, but it was wet and there might have been something on the road, some diesel or something. It was a big crash, I was quite lucky.?

Several of the teams crashed on the same corner, the last one on the course, but for Discovery it almost certainly cost them victory, ?We were flying in the last section,? Cummings said. ?We were two seconds off Tinkoff on the last check, but the conditions had changed and we were going a lot quicker.?

Cummings has been trying to train on his turbo, but his damaged elbow was unable to support his weight. He was due to ride the Tour of Austria, starting this coming Sunday (July 8), but will now change his program, ?[the team] told me to take my time. I?m supposed to be doing the Tour of Germany, so it?s quite a while until the next race so I?ve got a bit of time to have an enforced break and then start building back up.?

?I?ll probably just be watching the Tour on the Telly, I?d like to have gone but hopefully I?ll be back in training by then.?
