DAWSON HAS 11th ALL-ROUNDER TITLE IN SIGHTS
WITH a record 10 wins already under his belt since 1992, Kevin Dawson is again showing the form that will almost certainly earn him another British Best All-Rounder time trial title after beating the field by seven minutes in Ferryhill Wheelers? 50-mile event on Saturday.
The Pinarello RT rider, whose British competition record of 1-37-21 has stood for a decade, clocked a more modest 1-42-39 over the Kirklevington-Dishforth course in North Yorkshire.
But, coupled with his event record 3-32-18 in the Burton and District CA ?100? on June 23 and a winning 291.49-mile performance in the National 12-hour Championship in North Yorkshire on July 29, Dawson yet again has the BBAR title in his sights.
However, he faces a near 500-mile drive on Bank Holiday Monday to compete in the A3 CRG 50-mile event at Liss, Hampshire, after the Ferryhill Wheelers event was ruled out of the BBAR rankings because it was originally listed in the Cycling Time Trials handbook as a non-qualifying ?25?.
The event was increased in distance to replace a ?50? which had to be cut because of roadworks earlier in the season.
