Friends Life Women's Tour to start in Bury St Edmunds
Stage one of the 2015 Friends Life Women's Tour will be entirely in Suffolk, starting in Bury St Edmunds and finishing on the coast in Aldeburgh
The 2015 Friends Life Women’s Tour will begin where the 2014 edition ended, rolling out from Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk on June 17.
Marianne Vos won last year’s final stage in the town to wrap up the overall victory and is likely to be among the 100 riders going for the win later this year.
Stage one will be entirely in Suffolk, finishing in the coastal town of Aldeburgh, with further details of the route due to be announced in the coming weeks.
Councillor Sara Mildmay-White, Deputy Leader of St Edmundsbury Borough Council said;
“The 2014 Friends Life Women's Tour was one of last year's highlights, and I am delighted that this world class event will be returning to Bury St Edmunds.
“Watching athletes at the top of their sport is exhilarating and the event has a terrific atmosphere. I hope it is also inspirational and many more women will be persuaded of the benefits of getting on their bikes and enjoying our very special part of Suffolk.”
