HUTCHINSON WINS NATIONAL TEN

IN Gear-Quickvit?s Michael Hutchinson scored his expected victory in the National 10-Mile Time Trial Championships in Hampshire on Sunday, clocking an impressive 18-07 to win by 43 seconds.
Despite having ridden relatively few events so far this season Hutchinson still started as favourite for the event and did not disappoint, scorching round the course in 18-07 to finish just nine seconds away from Bradley Wiggins? competition record of 17-58 from 2006.
Plowman Craven?s Tony Gibb clocked a superb 18-50, but even he was 43 seconds shy of Hutchinson around the course at Greatham, while Charles McCulloch (Shorter Rochford RT) was third with 19-03.
On a superb day for the event there were 29 sub-20 minute rides, including a 19-53 from 17-year-old Guernsey Velo Club youngster Daniel Arblaster who subsequently took the junior title from team-mate James McLaughlin who was 10 seconds slower.
In the women's event Julia Shaw (GS Strada) clocked 20-32 to win by four seconds from Team Halfords Bikehut rider Joanna Rowsell.
