Laura Trott gallops to Dutch stage race win
Rising star Laura Trott was rewarded with a place in the senior Great Britain women's team after taking a convincing win in a Dutch stage race.
Trott, who has been racing for more than a decade, celebrated her 18th birthday with an overall win at the international junior stage race, the Omloop van Borsele.
The youngster, who is also European team pursuit champion, was 28th on the first stage, a performance about which she was a little disappointed.
On the next stage, Trott escaped with a young Belgian to open up a gap of some two and a half minutes over the peloton scooping up a stage win as well.
It was a repeat performance on stage three with Trott winning the time trial to seal her overall win, beating World and European champion, Pauline Prevot.
The reward for Trott's hard work? A space on the GB team for the Gracia-Orlova race in the Czech Republic alongside Nicole Cooke.
Trott placed 28th on the opening stage in Gracia-Orlova, won by Dutchwoman Marianne Vos.
