Peter Williams in action in Bosnia & Herzegovina
Haribo Beacon rider Peter Williams finishes 15th in Grand Prix Sarajevo
By Chris Marshall-Bell
National Championships have largely restricted British riders riding abroad this week but there was a contingent of five Brits racing in Bosnia & Herzegovina last Sunday.
With almost all countries staging their Nationals this week and next, most have been returning to their roots to compete for national honours.
Peter Williams warmed up to taking 17th in the British TT Championships by placing a respectable 18th in the Grand Prix Sarajevo, a UCI 1.2 race. The HARIBO Beacon rider, 27, finished 15th in the points classification at the Tour de Serbie just the day before.
Williams was 1:23 off Matej Marin’s winning time, James Sampson was involved in the third bunch to roll in (4:43 off the pace), while Jake Womersley and James King both finished over 10 minutes behind on the tough 140km route. Jacob Scott failed to finish.
