PINARELLO RT GETS NEW SPONSOR FOR TOUR OF BRITAIN
When the Pinarello Racing Team hit the Tour of Britain next month, they'll be sporting a new kit thanks to the addition of an extra sponsor for the squad.
Canditv is the new name on the Staffordshire-based team's jersey. The team are hoping that the added financial assistance will allow them to take the team to race on the European circuit as well as British races.
The new sponsor does have an existing connection with the team - the company is owned by squad owner Phil Griffith's son, Kevin.
"I am delighted to back my father?s team," said Kevin Griffiths of Canditv. "It will initially run through to the end of 2008. This is a hard-headed business decision, Canditv is too important for us to base our decision on sentiment.
"Our sponsorship has got to show a return. But we want to be in for the long term. Hopefully Canditv will grow along with Pinarello RT. Initially our name will appear on the jerseys below Pinarello and on the backside of the shorts which will see the red on the kit changing to pink.
"By finalising this sponsorship in time for the Tour of Britain we hope to get maximum exposure on the roads round the country and of course on TV."
Team owner Phil Griffiths added: "We have been looking for extra backers for the team for some time and had spoken to Kevin about it. When he launched this new venture I was obviously delighted that he had confidence to come on board with us. I am sure it can only be good news for both of us."

Nigel Wynn worked as associate editor on CyclingWeekly.com, he worked almost single-handedly on the Cycling Weekly website in its early days. His passion for cycling, his writing and his creativity, as well as his hard work and dedication, were the original driving force behind the website’s success. Without him, CyclingWeekly.com would certainly not exist on the size and scale that it enjoys today. Nigel sadly passed away, following a brave battle with a cancer-related illness, in 2018. He was a highly valued colleague, and more importantly, an exceptional person to work with - his presence is sorely missed.
