Plans unveiled for Shrewsbury Cycling Festival
A cycling festival will be held in Shrewsbury on the weekend of May 30-31, to coincide with the Grand Prix races held in the town
The Shropshire town of Shrewsbury will host a two-day cycling festival in May to coincide with the Grand Prix event being held in the town centre.
Up to 400 participants are expected to take part in a sportive on Saturday, May 30, with routes of 52 and 73 miles taking in a number of the area’s best climbs.
Then, on Sunday, professional and amateur racers will speed around the town in the Shrewsbury Cycle Grand Prix, with family ride on the circuit before the racing begins.

Festival organiser Ben Lawrence told Shropshire Live: “The sportive will be a fantastic warm up event for the Grand Prix giving people the chance to get on their bikes for a great cause.
“Shropshire is a great place to live with some beautiful scenery and there is no better way to see it than on a bike.

“The choice of routes means there is a distance to suit all abilities and cyclists will get to complete the sportive by riding a lap of the Grand Prix circuit.”
