Quick Step: Team Profile
QUICK STEP
UCI ProTour team
The Belgian Quick Step team went on a spending spree over the winter months, signing some precocious talent, most notably Sylvain Chavanel and Jérôme Pineau from Cofidis and Bouygues Telecom respectively.
Tom Boonen remains, but will not be joined by Stefan Schumacher as the team refused to honour his contract for the 2009 season after the German?s positive test for CERA at the 2008 Tour de France.
Signing Dominique Cornu from the Silence-Lotto team was a real coup and is a rider with real potential. With Pineau, Chavanel, Boonen, Devolder and Weylandt, Quickstep is perhaps the strongest Spring Classics team on paper.
