RAKE IT IN
The famous Lancashire RC hill-climb on the fierce slopes of the Rake at Ramsbottom on Sunday October 15 (not 10th as printed recently). The event boasts a £500 first prize and over £1,000 in prizes for all categories.
Over the years the 970-yard Rake which averages one-in-five has tortured many a famous soul. Chris Boardman, Graeme Obree, Michael Hutchinson, Malcolm Elliott, Gethin Butler and Jim Henderson, they all have two things in common. Not only have they all won national titles, all have ridden the Rake.
Last year it was the venue for the National Hill-Climb Championship, won by Ben Greenwood in a time of 2-26.5.
The event starts at midday and the Mayor of Bury will present the prizes.
Don?t refer to the CTT handbook for entry details because there is a change of event secretary. Contact: Warren Chamberlain, 27 Blackburn Road, Egerton, Bolton. BL7 9EP.
