Rollapaluza presents new Urban Hill Climb
Rollapaluza's mission to bring a range of innovative cycling events to the capital continues with the Urban Hill Climb on Swains Lane, Highgate, on Thursday, July 22.
On the day that the Tour de France riders have battled their way up the Col du Tourmalet, Londoners (and visitors) will be able to grab their own piece of glory on the slopes of Highgate's renowned Swains Lane which features in Simon Warren's new book 100 Greatest Cycling Climbs. The Lane will be closed to regular traffic specifically for the event.
Entry is free so you'll probably need to register quickly in order to take part. If the atmosphere is anything like the famous Bec CC and Catford CC hill climbs which inspired this event, but traditionally happen later in the year and far outside London, then it's going to be a great evening.
The event joins the recent Waller Pain hill climb in Caterham, Surrey, in the summer schedule, signalling a new mid-year slot for the more usually autumnal pursuit of hill climbing.
Condor cycles are supporting the Rollapaluza Urban Hill Climb with prizes totalling over £750 in value and Rollapaluza themselves are putting up a cash prize pot of £500.
Full details and online entry are here: www.urbanhillclimb.com. Online entry closes on Tuesday July 20 at 9pm.
