Tour de Celeb stars continue mishap-filled Etape training tonight on TV
Episode two of the Channel 5 documentary Tour de Celeb has the TV and sports stars learning to ride in a bunch and tackle another sportive
The assembled television and sporting personalities taking part in the Tour de Celeb will continue their training for the Etape du Tour in the second episode of the Channel 5 series, aired tonight (Monday) at 7pm.
The opening episode last week saw the eight riders get to grips (or not) with clipless pedals and tackle (or not) their first sportive together.
>>> Last night’s ‘Tour de Celeb’ reality TV show was cycling, but not as we know it
TOWIE star Lucy Mecklenburgh came off worst during the sportive, taking a tumble after getting nervous in traffic and cutting her knee quite badly.
The show was generally well received by cyclists, with many of the problems encountered by the cycling newbies being very familiar territory.
Episode two of the four-part series marks six weeks to go until the riders tackle the 122km Etape du Tour in France, and Olympic team pursuit champion Ed Clancy is drafted in to assist them in their bunch riding technique.

The group also tackles another sportive, this time in the Surrey Hills. Will rugby star Austin Healey – the only one with previous extensive cycling experience – leave them all behind again?
Along with Mecklenburgh and Healey, reality TV star Hugo Taylor, choreographer Louie Spence, presenters Jodie Kidd and Angellica Bell, and sports stars Darren Gough and Amy Williams make up the team.
In other news: The Sun is possibly as clueless about cycling as some of the celebs were prior to starting their Etape training for the show, with the paper running an online article titled "Lucy Mecklenburgh reveals she went KNICKERLESS under her riding gear during Tour de Celeb". Its capitals, not ours.

Nigel Wynn worked as associate editor on CyclingWeekly.com, he worked almost single-handedly on the Cycling Weekly website in its early days. His passion for cycling, his writing and his creativity, as well as his hard work and dedication, were the original driving force behind the website’s success. Without him, CyclingWeekly.com would certainly not exist on the size and scale that it enjoys today. Nigel sadly passed away, following a brave battle with a cancer-related illness, in 2018. He was a highly valued colleague, and more importantly, an exceptional person to work with - his presence is sorely missed.
