TADROS TAKES A TUMBLE, BUT STILL WINS
IN-FORM Pete Tadros scored a weekend double in the Southern Counties CU Sporting 10 and 25-mile time trials on the Surrey/Sussex border.
The In Gear-Quickvit RT rider knocked 42 seconds from the year-old course record for the 10-mile Okewoodhill course, beating previous record holder Steve Dennis (East Grinstead CC) into second by 54 seconds with Chris Birch (East Street Cycles) in third, another three seconds off the pace.
Hopes of winning 24 hours later appeared to have gone when he fell off in the early stages of Sunday?s 25-mile event at Loxwood, Sussex, slipping on the wet roads as he caught his minute man.
But despite bloodied elbows and bruised pride he got back on to complete the course in 57-21, winning by 28 seconds from Dennis, while Colin McDermott (Festival Road Club) took third this time, 1-12 behind Tadros.
Meanwhile, course record also fell in the Bath CC hilly 25-mile event at Maiden Bradley, Wiltshire, the promoting club?s Rob Pears scoring a win with 58-30, while second-placed Chris Madge (Severn RC) was 2-42 slower.
Pears also helped the Bath CC to the team prize alongside Mark Keyford, sixth overall with 1-03-55, and George Rowntree, 1-08-42.
