Trixi mirrors to be installed at Lancashire's cycling blackspots
£1m is being spent to slow alarming increase rate of cycling deaths and injuries on the county's roads.

Lancashire, the county with the biggest rise in cycling-related accidents, is installing Trixi mirrors at eight accident blackspots.
100 riders were killed or seriously injured in 2013 on the county’s roads, rising from 62 in 2012.
Lancashire County Council is therefore spending £1million to improve safety for cyclists and to make drivers more aware of people on bikes.
Already there have been Trixi mirrors fitted to traffic lights at three locations, with a further five set to be installed in the foreseeable future. 96 were installed at major junctions in Greater Manchester earlier this year.
Trixi mirrors are large, curved mirrors that are placed at the top of traffic lights, more commonly on left-turns. They make it easier for vehicle drivers to see cyclists who may otherwise be hidden to the left.

The county’s roads hit the headlines in November 2012 when both Bradley Wiggins and then British Cycling head coach Shane Sutton were involved in accidents while riding their bikes in the region.
