WYMAN MOVES UP TO 5TH OVERALL IN CROSS WORLD CUP
Helen Wyman's consistent form in the UCI cyclo-cross World Cup series has seen her move up to fifth place overall after coming fifth in the sixth round on Sunday in Nommay, France.
The British cyclo-cross national champion came home just over a minute adrift of round winner Katherine Compton (USA). Wyman's Swift Racing team-mate Gabby Day put in another strong performance to come 14th.
German Hanka Kupfernagel tops the overall leaderboard after six rounds with 270 points - Wyman is on 144 points. Three rounds remain in the 2008/09 series.
Current cyclo-cross World Champion Lars Boom (Rabobank) won the elite men's race on the muddy French course, just pipping series leader Sven Nys (Landbouwkrediet) to the win.
The next round of the series is on Boxing Day (December 26) in Heusden-Zolder, Belgium.

Nigel Wynn worked as associate editor on CyclingWeekly.com, he worked almost single-handedly on the Cycling Weekly website in its early days. His passion for cycling, his writing and his creativity, as well as his hard work and dedication, were the original driving force behind the website’s success. Without him, CyclingWeekly.com would certainly not exist on the size and scale that it enjoys today. Nigel sadly passed away, following a brave battle with a cancer-related illness, in 2018. He was a highly valued colleague, and more importantly, an exceptional person to work with - his presence is sorely missed.
