The penultimate round of the British Cycling Elite Road Series hits the Leicester cobbles on Sunday with the fight for top spot still to be settled.
In what has been a thrilling, unpredictable tussle at the top of the standings throughout the series, there is sure to be another reshuffle at the summit come Sunday afternoon.
The strong field are to race the Leicester Castle Classic’s 80km which comprises 20 laps of the 4.1km circuit.
Currently, Yanto Barker (Team Raleigh) heads the rankings on 138 points from former leader Marcin Bialoblocki (Velsure-Giordana) and Madison Genesis’ Alex Peters.
Raleigh are the frontrunners in the team standings, a point ahead of Madison Genesis’s 57 points and four ahead of NFTO Pro Cycling.
NFTO’s GP Series leader, Russell Downing, is not registered in the provisional start list, likewise RideLondon—Surrey Classic winner Adam Blythe, but organisers are optimistic that the duo will indeed race.
