Film: Fan's-eye view on Monte Zoncolan
Adam Hansen joins in the fun as cycling fan Rodrigo Mattiuz films himself and riders scaling Monte Zoncolan during the Giro d'Italia

Italian cycling fan Rodrigo Mattiuz has put together a film of himself and the riders of the Giro d'Italia scaling Monte Zoncolan during stage 20 of the 2014 race.
Mattiuz used a GoPro HD camera on a 'selfie stick' to make a unique fan's-eye view from the road.
Whilst we can't condone fans running so close to riders - particularly as on this stage Francesco Bongiorno had his chance of a stage win ruined by an over-zealous fan - some of the riders obviously don't mind one bit. Witness Adam Hansen from 2:41 having a laugh, a chat and joining in with the filming fun.

Nigel Wynn worked as associate editor on CyclingWeekly.com, he worked almost single-handedly on the Cycling Weekly website in its early days. His passion for cycling, his writing and his creativity, as well as his hard work and dedication, were the original driving force behind the website’s success. Without him, CyclingWeekly.com would certainly not exist on the size and scale that it enjoys today. Nigel sadly passed away, following a brave battle with a cancer-related illness, in 2018. He was a highly valued colleague, and more importantly, an exceptional person to work with - his presence is sorely missed.
