Mark Cavendish rides in support of Chris Lawless: European Championship men's road race start list
Defending champion Matteo Trentin faces stiff competition from an elite field
Italy's Matteo Trentin (Mitchelton-Scott) will face stiff competition as he looks to defend his European road race title, as a number of high-profile riders have travelled to Alkmaar in the Netherlands for the 2019 European Championships.
Dylan Groenewegen (Jumbo-Visma) lines up for the host nation, looking to add to his stage win at the recent Tour de France, while German sprinter Pascal Ackermann (B0ra-Hansgrohe) is another strong contender, his 2019 already a success after picking up two stages and the points classification at the Giro d'Italia.
Mark Cavendish (Dimension Data) has said he will ride in support of Tour de Yorkshire winner Chris Lawless (Ineos), with the Great Britain team also featuring Luke Rowe (Ineos), Alex Dowsett (Katusha-Alpecin) and Adam Blythe (Lotto-Soudal).
Here is the full start list for the European Championships men's road race 2019.

Jonny was Cycling Weekly's Weekend Editor until 2022.
I like writing offbeat features and eating too much bread when working out on the road at bike races.
Before joining Cycling Weekly I worked at The Tab and I've also written for Vice, Time Out, and worked freelance for The Telegraph (I know, but I needed the money at the time so let me live).
I also worked for ITV Cycling between 2011-2018 on their Tour de France and Vuelta a España coverage. Sometimes I'd be helping the producers make the programme and other times I'd be getting the lunches. Just in case you were wondering - Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwen had the same ham sandwich every day, it was great.

Tech of the week: A shockingly expensive steel bike from Colnago, a surprisingly affordable carbon bike from Pinarello, DT Swiss energises our cycling lives and Pog's bars are now yours to buy
Colnago's Steelnova is a thing of beauty but you'll pay for the pleasure, while Pinarello's F1 is an inexpensive gateway to the brand. DT Swiss enters the dynamo hub market and Enve brings Pog's cockpit to market
