Perrett wins Rudy Project time trial round five

Round five of the RTTC-Rudy Project Series went to Joe Perrett (PCA Ciclos Uno), who covered a 32-mile Great Whitley course, in Worcestershire, in 1-10-31 for a decisive winning margin of nearly three minutes.
Behind him, the next three riders were covered by a single second with current series leader Jeff Jones (www.drag2zero.com) edging second place in 1-13-29 by the minimum margin over Wouter Sybrandy (Team IG-Sigma Sport) and pre-race favourite Matt Bottrill (www.drag2zero.com) who tied for second in 1-13-30.
Victory in the 16-mile women's event went to Sarah Storey (For Viored) in 38-33 ahead of series leader Rebecca Slack (London Dynamo), 40-53.
Thunderstorms affected the Burton District CA 50 as the quest for fast Best All-Rounder times intensified, with a number of riders coming to grief in the wet conditions on the Etwall to Uttoxeter course.
Scott Povey (www.drag2zero.com) clocked a superb 1-40-15 to win from team-mate Derek Parkinson, 1-41-07, with roadman Simon Wilson (Metaltek Scott) taking third in 1-41-21.
Winner of the 25 and 50-mile titles, Iain Grant (Dooleys Cycles) seemed well on course to complete a treble in the Scottish CU 100-mile championship with a lead of over three minutes at the halfway point, only to climb off ten miles later.
It left Eddie Addis (Equipe Velo Ecosse) to post a winning 3-54-52 on the Alness-based course for victory ahead of the only other two riders to beat four hours, Jim Cusick (Glasgow Couriers), 3-55-20, and Steve Nutley (Sandy Wallace Cycles), 3-58-12.

On-song Keith Murray (Ferryhill Wheelers) continued in winning form in Drighlington BC's 25 in North Yorkshire, covering the Topcliffe course in 50-49 for victory ahead of Mark Thaxter (Huddersfield Star Wheelers), 51-32, and Andy Fuller (GS Metro), 52-00.
Thunderstorms also hit Newark Castle CC's 10 at Long Bennington where Matt Siclair (Lutterworth Cycle Centre RT), 19-54, was the only rider inside 20 minutes to win by 28 seconds from his team-mate Andrew Green.
Conall Yates (In-Gear Quickvit Trainsharp RT) missed a 30mph ride by a single second with a winning 20-01 in Epsom CC's 10 at Horsham, and the same fate befell Warren Gell (Coveryourcar.co.uk RT) in the www.drag2zero.com 10 whose 20-01 on the Levens course, in Cumbria, beat Harry Armstrong (Berwick Wheelers) by just a second.
