Gerrans out of Cervelo Tour team
Australian Simon Gerrans has not been selected for Cervelo's 2009 Tour team. While the team still hasn't announced its final roster, Gerrans announced the news on his Twitter feed.
"Well I just got a call from my DS. I'm still digesting the news I didn't make the tour team. I'm pretty disappointed. What do u all think?" he announced late on Tuesday night via Twitter.
He later Tweeted that he was washing the news down with a nice bottle of Aussie red wine in the company of Columbia rider Mark Renshaw.
Gerrans' non-selection is all the more surprising after his stage win in the Giro d'Italia in May. He also won stage 15 of last year's Tour to Prato Nevoso (when riding for Credit Agricole) after a day-long break on one of the race's most feared stages.
With Tour teams being announced all week, none of the British riders in the Cervelo team are expected to make the final nine.
