Revolution will be televised... on ITV4

The 2011/12 Revolution track series hosted at Manchester velodrome will be televised by ITV4, the event's organiser announced on Tuesday.

An hour-long highlights programme will be aired on British digital channel ITV4 on the Monday evening following each of the four events. The first Revolution event takes place on Saturday, October 29 with highlights on Monday, October 31.

It's the latest cycling event that ITV4 has added to its expanding portfolio. This year ITV4 have shown the Tour de France, Tour of Britain and Vuelta a Espana.

Controller of ITV Sport Niall Sloane said: "Revolution provides an excellent opportunity for us to extend our cycling coverage beyond the road season. We have seen growing audience figures for our coverage of events like the Tour de France and Tour of Britain so the Revolution coverage will enable us to engage this audience into the track cycling season."  

"The broadcast partnership with ITV is an exciting development for Revolution and will enable us to reach a national audience," said James Pope, managing director of organisers Face Partnership.

"Revolution was designed to deliver world class racing as well as entertainment so we are looking forward to translating this format to TV."

The 2011/12 Revolution track dates are October 29, November 19, January 7 and January 28. 

Last week, organisers announced that the first round would feature a host of stars including Geraint Thomas, Alex Dowsett, Dean and Russell Downing, Ed Clancy, Ben Swift, Peter Kennaugh, David Daniell and Andy Tennant.

Later rounds are scheduled to feature Mark Cavendish, Sir Chris Hoy, Jason Kenny, Matt Crampton and Ross Edgar.
