Spotlight on..... Sandown Cyclone Sportive
Surrey roads have been hugely popular with the Olympic road race now in sight and the ever growing likeliness of seeing a star gracing our local training routes (the British girls were out riding the route last Friday). It really hasn't been a better time to get out on the bike in Surrey, so why not use the Sandown Cyclone Sportive as a excuse to visit this part of the world and take in some of the famous hills in the sounding area.
Taking place on Sunday April 22 this sportive open to all will also enable riders entry into the Road Cycling Show, which is in association with Cycling Weekly starting on Saturday April 21 to Sunday April 22.
All three routes start within Sandown Park, Esher and head out towards Cobham. The Epic (81miles) and the Standard (66miles) take in the hard 20 per cent climb of White Down, as featured in Simon Warren's book 100 Climb, whilst the fun 35.5mile route takes in the best of Surrey in a compact route.
