Team Sky, Maxgear and Le Col in contention for Revolution Championship

The 2010-11 Revolution Championship reaches its conclusion this Saturday, January 15, at the Manchester Velodrome with three teams in contention to take the Championship title.

Maxgear, Le Col and Team Sky are all within three points of each other leaving the competition wide open for the final event. This sets up the perfect finale as the organisers look to develop the team format.

"The racing this season has been some of the best we have seen at Revolution," commented Race Promoter James Pope. "The introduction of trade teams has improved the competition and helped the riders and audience get their heads around the league format."

"Each of the top three teams has won a round which has created the perfect finale," he continued. "The aim has always been to develop a format that would be exciting for a TV audience and we are negotiating with several broadcasters for a televised Championship later this year."

The teams in contention will be hoping that their star riders make an impact with Team Sky welcoming Alex Dowsett into the squad. He will be joined by Ross Edgar, Pete Kennaugh and Russell Downing showing Sky's strength in depth.

Le Col will benefit from the return of Kilo World Champion Teun Mulder and elsewhere Rapha Condor Sharp will hope new recruits Ed Clancy and Andy Tennant can lift them off the bottom of the table.

Other highlights will include the National Madison Championships, a pursuit head to head between World Champions Ed Clancy and Leigh Howard and the conclusion of the DHL Future Stars competition.
