Wyman and Harris on Koppenbergcross podium
British riders Helen Wyman (Kona) and Nikki Harris (Telent-Fidea) finished second and third behind Dutchwoman Sanne van Paassen (Brain Wash) in Tuesday's GVA Trofee Koppenbergcross in Belgium.
Defending champion Wyman came close to repeating last year's victory in the race, but was passed by van Paassen on the Koppenberg half-way through the race, eventually finishing 23 seconds behind. Up to that point, Wyman had led the field.
Harris came home in third at 58 seconds with fellow Brit Gabby Day (Renner Custom) in eighth at 1-35.
The course was much drier than last year, where Wyman cut through the muddy conditions to take the biggest win of her career.
Kevin Pauwels (Sunweb Revor) won the men's event ahead of Sven Nys (Landbouwkrediet) and Zdenek Stybar (Telenet-Fidea).

Nigel Wynn worked as associate editor on CyclingWeekly.com, he worked almost single-handedly on the Cycling Weekly website in its early days. His passion for cycling, his writing and his creativity, as well as his hard work and dedication, were the original driving force behind the website’s success. Without him, CyclingWeekly.com would certainly not exist on the size and scale that it enjoys today. Nigel sadly passed away, following a brave battle with a cancer-related illness, in 2018. He was a highly valued colleague, and more importantly, an exceptional person to work with - his presence is sorely missed.
