South-coast firm Prendas is building quite a reputation for developing and producing stylish, practical kit at affordable prices and, judging by the press-release, the guys behind the brand are pretty excited about tht Prendas Ciclismo Winter jacket.
Designed in-house by keen cyclists and made in conjunction with Italian cycle clothing giant Santini, the jacket uses Gore Windstopper Fuga fabric to ensure bulk is kept to a minimum and that the cut is both form fitting and comfortable. Prendas has an ethos of catering for all, and with sizing that goes all the way up to 6XL (no, really!), even the largest riders should be able to achieve the perfect fit.
Windproofing is absolutely superb. The material is incredibly warm considering its soft, lightweight feelm and both collars and cuffs work well to keep any drafts out; the fuss-free, elasticated cuffs fitting easily under winter gloves with the soft, fleecy-lined collar sitting at just the right height to keep the neck and throat well insulated against the cold. The material isn’t claimed to be waterproof, but we found that in a light wintry shower we still stayed warm and dry.
Simplicity is another plus point and, happily, Prendas has held with tradition. No fussy pockets or vents, just three deep pockets at the rear plus a zipped compartment.
